Frontbending on Cerceau

Back to contortion after a long hiatus! I like to think of myself as a backbender, but I tried frontbending today. Not too bad, even if I do say so myself!

It was not so long ago when I decided my dream was to become a contortionist, I literally dream about it very often. I am 25 years old. I know it is not too late, there are proffesional contortionists out there that started around my age. But the…Continue

I've always thought that frontbenders were way more common than backbenders - out of the general population, not necessarily contortionists. But I cannot find any information on this topic. When I took gymnastics, approximately 80% of the them were…Continue

Crumbs, is it over 3 years since my last post? As motivation, I thought I wouldn't post until I could actually *do* Kandasana. I didn't imagine it would take this long. Latest news is that I can do the position, it hurts, and I can't take my hands away, yet. However, progress is being made, albeit slowly, and I have learnt that you just have to take time after each session to allow the legs to recover. Lots of time. About a week. You might think it would be better to train less and more…

First improvement :-)

It's now almost 2 months since I started building up a training routine. I started with running and short stretching sessions end of july. The running part was just a little bit of running (max. 5 minutes at the beginning and not more than 13min in august) and a lot of walking in between.  The stretching part was about 15-30 minutes, sometimes up to 1 hour.

First 3 weeks of september I succeded to do my training for 5 days a week. Now I am able to run nearly 30 minutes without walking…
