About Me
I started training in dance as an adult and soon discovered that I was attracted to and interested in all things flexibility. I had always admired contortionists but never known how they managed to do what they do. One time curiosity got the better of me and I went up and asked a performer how she did it. She gave me some tips, and this got me started looking on the internet . I soon and found a great website www.how.to\contort which gave me enough ideas and enthusiasm to get me started, and so I started a training schedule based on the stretches I had learnt.

I was definately addicted and kept doing more and more, I bought contortion training videos from the internet so that I could learn more stretches. I set up a local stretching group and I even found a class nearby that offered contortion to adults, which so far I have done for 1 term!

Ive had to cut back a bit lately due to injury but Im still keen as ever. I also coach Rhythmic Gymnastics which I am so glad for because it involves alot of back flexibility, even when I coach it I am getting more flexible!

As my back has been steadily improving, I decided this term to start back again doing acrobatics classes. Its been over a year now since I have done any, because I wanted to ensure my back was 100% before starting again. Progress?

Wow, this morning for the first time ever I found that I was able to do a scorpion balance without it hurting my back! In fact I could feel my abs working overtime so I knew I was doing right. This is a huge step forwards for me as it has always twinged my back. The difference now is I am no longer try to push myself further into such stretches if I cant feel my abs working or start to feel my back twinging.

Inspiration of watching circus

Today I watched a live contortion performance as part of a mini circus they had at the Canberra show. The girls' name was Jade Miller (Aussie girl) and she was an awesome performer and also very pretty. I mean Ive always been a big fan of any contortion performance and flock to see a circus just for that, but for some reason seeing this particular performance really jolted me back into realisng just how much I have a love for contortion and suddenly made me want to get better and start stretchin… Continue

Looks like 2008 will be the year of injury free back bending!

Wow, things are really starting to change for me! Ive recently figured out how to turn my abs on when I stretch,and I must say I have never felt my core muscles work so much! My core has never been this strong before either.This morning when I woke up all the sides of my internal obliques were sore, but a good sore. Why? because Ive got this new exercise I do whilst lying in bed and I think when I wake up I must make myself do it unconsiously even though I am half asleep so dont even realise it!… Continue

Sore hip flexors

I did a pilates class last Thursday and afterwards had really sore hips (as in tight feeling). Im not new to pilates in fact have been doing it continuously for 1 year now. The reason Ive been doing pilaetes is to try to help my back problems only it hasnt been helping much and in fact has caused some additional problems. I was stretching out my hips for about 1 1/2 hours on Friday and 1/2 an hour this morning and only now do they feel released. In fact they feel really stretched. I cant beleive… Continue

Hi Andrew,
That date sounds ok, right between my holiday and the start of work. How many days, is she still going for the 5 days? Can we run some of it outside of the school? I currently don't train anywhere for contortion, I just take dance classes and train for cheer.
So far I have just been looking up stretched on the internet and trying them out haha

Hello, You mentioned, in a forum post that you had a bulging disc in 2007. I have one in my lower lumbar at the moment and am trying to figure out how to fix it so I can go back to stretching cause I was actually making progress till I woke up ast week couldn't bend in any direction without pain. So how did you fix your bulging disc?
