In pictures of professional contortionists, you always see their trainers helping to bend them and push them further into their positions. Any creative ideas how to go about self-training in a manner similar as being able to use a partner?

WHOO!!!

Mini Celebratory Moment 7 June 2009: I just did a forearm stand to a scorpion pose to a forearm backbend and then pushed up into a standing position WITHOUT collapsing to the ground AND WITHOUT any balance support from the wall!

So I'm feeling pretty good so far about this whole contortion thing. I'm notorious for starting projects that I never finish, and so it's amazing to me that I've gotten as far with this as I have. Granted, I just barely got my feet to touch my forehead and I only got into the position by laying my chest on the floor and then pushing off of my sofa. Just built my first pair of handbalancing canes today. Of course I didn't find our power drill until I was nearly finished with them, so it took me forever to hand screw everything in. They turned out pretty well, though, and once the adhesive finally finishes drying, I'm going to stain and seal them. Continue

Hi!!

Seems like u are really flexible!!!

We are searching for feet behind head photos (contortion) to a upcoming website about and for people how can doit. I would be great if u could take some photos of u in that position and send them to us by email. You can take them in different angles and in different places. (wearing t-shirt/jeans/socks/barefeet...well u decide. (we may pay for some photos to).
It would be cool if you try to make yourself as small as you can while you are in that position....

Hi Tori, welcome to CU! I'm merely a fan so I can't answer your questions, but there are plenty of people here who are mega-serious about stretching. They will help you reach your goals if at all possible. We are practically neighbors, I'm in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
