Just built my first pair of handbalancing canes today. Of course I didn't find our power drill until I was nearly finished with them, so it took me forever to hand screw everything in. They turned out pretty well, though, and once the adhesive finally finishes drying, I'm going to stain and seal them.

Comment by Glen on July 12, 2009 at 1:49pm: Zach, if you look at the latest pics Tori was kind to post you could see a lot about their construction and you might be able to duplicate them. Some lumber and screws, some iron pipe and some fittings...

Comment by Tori on July 12, 2009 at 10:03pm: zach, the canes were so easy to make: I followed the directions on this website (http://community.simplycircus.com/tutorials/acrobatics/handbalancing.htm) I swayed a bit from the exact directions: i used the 2x4 for the cross brace and I cut my handgrips so that they were rounded on the ends just because that was more comfortable for me.
It was easy-peasy to do and fairly cheap as well! and they are so helpful. I'm not doing anything amazing on them yet, but it really feels different then doing handbalance stuff on the ground.
